Bluehost AI: What It Builds, What It Buys, What It Leaves to You
Updated October 31, 2026
Every Bluehost AI tool documented as of October 2026 helps you get started: a first WordPress design, a no-code site, a VPS, a domain. None of them edits a WordPress site that's already running.
That's fine if you're starting today. If you've had a WooCommerce store on Bluehost since 2022, it means the AI you want for the weekly work has to come from somewhere else.
Three Bluehost products with "AI" on them
- Bluehost WordPress AI Builder. This is WonderSuite under a new name, announced September 30, 2026. You answer questions about the site, pick one of three generated options, and it lands in WordPress for you to edit by hand. It ships with Bluehost's WordPress hosting plans.
- Bluehost AI Website Builder. A separate, chat-first builder for people who don't want to learn WordPress. You build on a free trial, then pick hosting to publish. Bluehost lists "request changes conversationally" as how you customize it.
- Bluehost MCP. Launched September 24, 2026, at
https://mcp.bluehost.com/mcp, with Claude Code and Claude Desktop supported at launch. An agent can compare and buy a Self-Managed VPS, set up SSH keys, publish an app and register domains. It can also read details about every product on your account, shared hosting included.
Bluehost describes the MCP's focus as "purchasing, provisioning and initial publishing." Its FAQ never mentions WordPress, and it can't cancel servers, buy Managed VPS plans or work outside the US.
A store on "Assets Only"
So take the job Bluehost's AI doesn't cover: running a shop.
Bluehost's Performance tab has three caching levels, and it recommends "Assets Only" for stores and anything that changes often. On that level, web pages aren't cached at all and static files are cached for 5 minutes. That's good news for AI edits, because a price change shows to the next visitor.
The trouble starts when a store owner picks "Assets & Web Pages" because it sounds faster. Pages are then cached for 5 minutes and static files for 6 hours, which is how a shopper ends up seeing this morning's sale banner over today's prices.
Here's the kind of request that store needs every week:
Raise the price of every product in my Candles category by $2 and tell me which products are low on stock.
Through Kitepod, your own Claude or ChatGPT does that through the WooCommerce REST API (WooCommerce with AI). Products, prices and stock are in scope. Anything that touches an order waits for a person's approval, and refunds are refused outright.
The price change is one change set. If you got the category wrong, you undo it as a whole, any time within 90 days, instead of fixing 30 prices one at a time.
Clearing the Bluehost cache by hand
The Performance tab (Bluehost Portal → Websites → Manage Site → Performance) has a Clear Cache section of its own, below Caching Control. Inside it, "Clear Cache for a Specific URL" is the one to use when a single product page won't update.
Object caching runs on Redis automatically, and Cloudflare's CDN is optional. If you've switched the CDN on, a stubborn page might be cached there instead.
Connecting Kitepod through the Bluehost Portal
Kitepod is a free remote MCP server with a plugin on your site (how a WordPress MCP works). It doesn't run an AI model, so there's no second AI bill.
- In the Bluehost Portal, choose Websites from the left-hand menu and click Edit Site. WordPress admin opens in a new tab. Install the Kitepod zip from Plugins → Add New → Upload. Your site needs WordPress 6.4 or newer and PHP 7.4 or newer, and the server has to be able to make outgoing HTTPS requests.
- Hit Connect inside wp-admin, sign in to Kitepod and choose the account the AI works as. A Shop Manager account keeps it away from plugins entirely.
- Add the Kitepod server URL,
https://kitepod.com/mcp, to Claude or ChatGPT (ChatGPT setup) and sign in.
Keep your own backups too, Bluehost's or a plugin's. Kitepod's snapshots cover its own changes, and it isn't a backup service.
Finer points
What happened to Bluehost WonderSuite?
It's now called Bluehost WordPress AI Builder. Bluehost announced the name on September 30, 2026, and it still builds a starter WordPress site from your answers.
Does Bluehost have an MCP server?
Yes, since September 24, 2026. It buys and provisions Self-Managed VPS plans and domains and reads account details. Bluehost's docs don't say it manages WordPress content.
Which Bluehost cache level should a WooCommerce store use?
Bluehost recommends "Assets Only" for e-commerce and frequently updated sites. Pages aren't cached on that level, so price and stock changes show immediately.
Can Bluehost's AI edit my existing WordPress site?
Not from anything Bluehost publishes as of October 2026. The AI Builder hands you a starting site, and Bluehost doesn't say its AI Website Builder works on WordPress sites built elsewhere.
